A sexually-suggestive Burger King ad in Singapore is raising a stink in the United States, although we don't know why. The print ad promotes a limited-time offer for the humorously-named, "BK Super Seven Incher," and the sandwich is shown pointing at the open mouth of an attractive young lady whose facial expression closely resembles that of a blow-up doll. Just in case you overlook the visual joke, the text reads, "It'll blow your mind away" and, "Fill your desire for something long (and) juicy."Mark Duffy, a New York City-based ad man and writer of the blog "Copyranter," was interviewed by FOXNews.com about this ad, and he referred to it as "misogynistic," but we don't see how it could be unless fellatio were an inherently misogynistic act, which we don't believe for one second. Also, given how the ad was created by a Singapore ad agency on behalf of a Singapore Burger King franchisee for use in that local market, we don't see why anyone in the United States should take offense. The irony about this ad is that media images in Singapore are tightly regulated by the Censorship Review Committee of the Media Development Authority. It's nice to know that government officials over there actually have a sense of humor.A lively discussion regarding this ad is available on Flickr.
